The oldest helicopter company in the subarctic, Hudson Bay Helicopters pioneered the flight seeing industry over 20 years ago.
Steve Miller the founder was the operations manager and long time helicopter service contractor for the Canadian Wildlife Service, University of Alberta and University of Saskatchewan Polar Bear research teams. Steve handled over 5000 polar bears and was the most experienced immobilization pilot in the world.
Taking over is Jody McRae, a pilot/engineer who worked with Steve for five years and specialized in High Arctic polar bear research. as part of a research team he has been the pilot in command when over 1200 polar bears have been immobilized for study or transport. He has spent four years working with research scientists from the American Museum of Natural History and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service an a continuing study of geese in the Churchill area. He has also been involved with grizzly bear, wolf capture and research work. He possesses thousands of hours of flight time and has also worked extensively with the University of Saskatchewan and in our newest territory, Nunavut.
Hudson Bay Helicopters has dedicated itself to preserve the beautiful landscape it showcases. We have and will continue to conduct our flight seeing tours with great consideration for the comfort of the environment, the wildlife and our passengers.
